Sun Academy Bradwell will hold its first ever Careers Week from 13th – 17th March. During the week, our pupils will take part in activities and workshops with people doing different jobs like doctors, dancers and police officers.
We are thrilled that a Bell 412 military helicopter will fly in from RAF Cosford and land at the academy on Monday 13th March to launch Careers Week. All our pupils will get to see the helicopter arrive at and leave the academy, and will be able to explore inside and ask lots of questions. Workshops will be held for Year 5 and 6 pupils by Chief Technician Matt Smithers including a PT session.
We will also welcome some special guests to the academy. Former professional boxer Scott Lawton will undertake a boxing training session and put on a demonstration. Professional dancers, fitness trainers, a doctor, a Vicar, a police officer and a governance manager will all visit the academy during the week.
All our guests will speak to pupils about their jobs, the skills they need and their career journey. Pupils will be able to visit the Careers Pod at the academy to tell us what they want to be when they grow up and what they have learnt from the guests.
We are very excited to give our pupils the opportunity to meet and learn from people in lots of different jobs so they can see the choices that are open to them later in life. It is important that we help our young people to think about how they may want to contribute to their community when they are older and give them the self-belief that they can achieve what they want to.
